Research Assistant/Associate Professor in Special Education
Special Education faculty members at the University of Tennessee work collaboratively with other teacher education colleagues in the Department of Theory and Practice in Teacher Education (TPTE) within the highly ranked College of Education, Health and Human Sciences at The University of Tennessee. Position
The College of Education, Health and Human Sciences at the University of Tennessee is seeking applicants for a Research Assistant Professor in Special Education in the Department of Theory and Practice in Teacher Education. The position begins January 1, 2010.
Required Qualifications
Required qualifications include (1) an earned doctorate in Special Education, Educational Psychology, Program Evaluation or highly related field; (2) evidence of grant writing experience or potential; (3) experience in developing and providing professional development in K-12 school settings; (4) expertise in statistical analysis; and (5) demonstrated scholarship or evidence of scholarly potential;
Desired Qualifications
Desired qualifications include (1) a history of successful K-12 teaching including students with disabilities and other special needs; (2) certification in Applied Behavior Analysis; (3) success obtaining extramural funding and managing grants; and (4) demonstrated research experience.
Duties/Responsibilities
Duties will include securing external funding; grant administration and preparation; collaboration with Tennessee Department of Education and other state and federal agencies; development and oversight of implementation of professional development for education personnel across the state; oversight of required grant and contract reports; management and supervision of project staff; undergraduate and/or graduate teaching, and participation in other relevant departmental work.
Salary
Is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
